Color is light on a voyage through space, and perception of same. We invite you to join us for a worldly tour, on the maiden voyage of the new Artfibers virtual airline, Air Ecru. Our wings will be lifted by the spectrum, guided by the wisdom of color in nature and history. We’re cleared for takeoff, and yes, by all means, please keep your knitting needles.
Today we embark from San Francisco headed toward a very different kind of place, Iceland. Our destination country has only half the population of SF, but seems often in the news of late. Please join us in this adventure of spinning, dyeing and stitching.

Another great product from Cincopa
a-ha! NOW I see what you mean with that Nasa thermal image! That’s COOL! …and I saw the yarn in person today, it is equally gorgeous.
Hey Jen, your image is equally inspiring — I just ran out of WordPress savvy and had to roll it up for the day. We’ll do another one with your image. By the way, do you have any other favorite images that we might base a colorway on? Another new yarn in the wings you know! Great to see you today and thanks so much for the inspiration!

These dyes are exquisite. I love the way you juxtaposed the photos that you used for inspiration with the finished swatch. Very creative and inspiring.
I love how your yarn evokes the colors and the feeling of the land, brilliant! I’m in love with #9, so pretty!
Thanks for the kind words Janice. Heady praise coming from someone who paints so beautifully ( hint: other readers, please take a look — exquisite work alert!).
You knit so beautifully Heather, we’ll hope that you find a way to work Bjork into your queue!
Are you kidding?! I’ll bring a flash drive with me on Mother’s day if you’re open/available! or let me know how else to send you some…I can load to flickr too. Looking forward to seeing what comes next!

Lovely colour inspiration! I’ve always wanted to recreate the colour combinations of Australian parrots, South American humming birds and New Guinea birds of paradise. I salivate looking at images of them in Google images and Flickr! The Bjork bright colorway I just received is very Australian rosella-ish!
It’s always nice to see people inspired by the beauty of Mother Nature. Impressive how you’ve captured the colors shown in those photos of Iceland. I’m all alone in my knitting world here in hot and sunny Miami. Artfibers newsletters keep me connected. Good luck with your project.
Thanks for your kind words! We followed the link to your blog (we could have an interesting conversation about diet!) and then to your image gallery, where several jumped out as potential yarn colorways (especially the two water lily pictures). If we did make an Air Ecru voyage to Adelaide to see through your eyes we would reprint the pictures in the blog post with full credit to you and provide a link to your gallery so pepole could buy prints. Would that be ok with you?
