J’aime la j’aime!
This yarn was love at first sight and feel. The cashmere is marvelously apparent and the high spin gives so much elasticity that you sink back in your favorite knitting chair with a big sigh of contentment.
We think J’aime would be a great choice for so many projects…
You could wrap yourself in a warm, but not too heavy shawl,
or cuddle up in a cushy hoodie, or treat your feet to the softest socks imaginable.
You could make a hat/scarf set for your favorite honey, or make
a cushion to settle your tired head onto as you recline on the sofa
at the end of a long day.
You could start a small business selling irresistible fingerless gloves.
We have yet to do a felting test, but J’aime would definitely provide a luxurious felt hat or mittens.
Artfibers J'AIME #2 -- Rib and 4 ST woven Stitch
I so enjoyed making the J’aime swatches! My infatuation with Woven Stitch is obvious, since colors 2, 3, and 9 are variations of that stitch pattern. I wanted to see if the pattern still showed well in dark and variegated shades. J’aime keeps the texture very well due to its high twist.
If you would like to try Woven Stitch this here are instructions:
Multiple of 8 sts.
Row 1: K4, p4
Row 2 through 4: Knit the knits and purl the purls as they face you.
Row 5: Knit
Row 6: Purl
Row 7: P4, k4
Row 8 through 10: Knit the knits and purl the purls as they face you.
Row 11: Knit
Row 12: Purl

Artfibers J'AIME #9 -- 4 st Woven Stitch
Color 4 is a simple check stitch pattern that is a good choice for scarves since it is the same on both sides. Color 6 is a smaller version called Box Stitch which I broke up with some stockinette just for fun.

Color 5 is Staggered Diagonal Rib, which is done by making a mistake on Diagonal Rib, then repeating it

Color 7 is Mistake Stitch Rib with Garter Stitch ridges inserted to vary the texture.

Color 8 is another new favorite called Loose Lattice Lace, which I found in one of the Harmony Guide stitch dictionaries in our store. Even though it looks complex, the instructions are easy to keep track off and all back side rows are just purl stitches. In J’Aime it reminds me of an old trellis covered with moss.
